OpenAI Opens The GPT Store

OpenAI Opens The GPT Store

Late last year, OpenAI announced they were allowing people to create custom GPTs that would be available on a GPT Store. Today, they’ve announced the GPT Store is officially open to paying users.

GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformers, which is a kind of artificial intelligence (AI).

OpenAI’s GPTs are essentially custom versions of ChatGPT, each performing a specific task. Think of them like a robot, but with only one job. For example, a GPT could specialise in writing a blog article or an Instagram caption.

Since OpenAI opened up the ability for GPTs to be created without any code, over 3 million GPTs have been created! This mind-blowing number shows just how many potential use cases there are for AI technology.

OpenAI has now opened the GPT Store to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. You can access the GPT store by logging into ChatGPT, then clicking on Explore GPTs in the top left corner:

There’s popular and trending GPTs across various categories like DALL·E, writing, research, programming, education and lifestyle. Think of it like Apple App Store or Google Play, but for AI tools!

So instead of trying to craft the perfect prompt for ChatGPT from scratch, you can find the perfect GPT to perform the task for you.

GPT Store overview

If you’re a business owner or marketer trying to grow your business using social media marketing, then the GPT Store is a big deal.

Since AI started gaining mainstream traction, the volume of content being produced has shot up, making the quality of your content even more important.

To succeed on social media in the AI-age, you need to generate high-quality, unique content – quickly and efficiently.

Enter the GPT store, which already has a huge number of GPTs specifically to perform social media-related tasks:

Consider these 3 use cases where a custom GPT might be used:

  1. Social Media Content: A fashion brand could use the Canva GPT to create an image for its Instagram account, resonating with its target audience and enhancing engagement.
  2. Customer Service: A beauty brand could use a custom GPT for managing customer service inquiries on platforms like X, offering personalised and helpful responses.
  3. Logo generator: A B2B subscription service that just starting up could use the Logo Creator GPT to create a quick and unique logo.

Yes, you can already perform these functions in ChatGPT or DALL E. However, because each GPT is focused on a specific task and capable of being connected to your existing software, it will likely produce a better output in a shorter amount of time.

OpenAI also announced plans to launch a GPT builder revenue program in Q1, initially for the US. GPT creators will be able to earn money based on user engagement with their GPTs, incentivising more to be created.

For Team and Enterprise customers, the GPT Store has extra admin controls and a private section for securely published GPTs. This caters to the growing demand for tailored AI solutions, allowing companies to manage how GPTs are used within their organisation.

The GPT store is a big leap forward. We always recommend being an early adopter of new software, so dive into the GPT Store and see what’s available. Be curious and experiment with GPTs – no doubt there’s something there to help you create faster content, engage your audience better and grow your brand on social media.
