Why do learning awards matter? Seriously. Who cares if you win, right? Why learning awards matter - Social Media College

Social Media College is here to change the world, by providing outstanding education in Social Media Marketing. We don’t just want you to have a good learning experience, we want it to be amazing!

Entering learning awards helps us with this. It pushes us to design well, using evidence-based approaches, adult learning principles and theories, and best-practice, performance-focused learning activities.

Good design works closely with good delivery that includes KPIs, timeframes, resources, key features, expertise, specific tools, technologies, innovation and support mechanisms.

Writing the award submissions makes us take a good hard look at what we do and what evidence we have of our success. We need to provide the context, key drivers, industry comparisons and challenges for the program.

We need to provide the data that demonstrates effectiveness, and we need to provide feedback from participants and case studies of student success.

We need to demonstrate how our courses deliver against real-world business needs, and give people the skills and knowledge that they need to deliver comprehensive, effective social media marketing.

The awards also set a standard to aspire to. By ‘competing’ with others and sharing what we do, we keep the learning and development profession continually improving (as it should be!), and by doing this, we create better learning.

Award submissions take time to prepare. All the SMC team are involved in reviewing what we’re doing and showcasing our courses. They’re a lot of work, but the payoff is really for the learners – as we get better at what we do, they get better learning experiences.

So … we’re stoked to be participating in the awards programs of the Australian Institute of Training and Development and LearnX.

We’re over the moon to reach the finalist stage in three categories for the 2020 awards with the Social Media Marketing Intensive (self-paced and LIVE). And we’re nervous, waiting for the winners to be announced!
