Daniele Nominated for Businesswoman of the Year

November 2, 2017

Daniele Tanner, Co-Founder of Social Media College, has been shortlisted as a finalist to win Businesswoman of the Year at the 2017 Optus My Business Awards, the premier event of the year for SMEs.

Founded in 2014, Social Media College offers cutting edge social media education programs, closing a gap in student demand that traditional education providers have been too slow to fill. Its products include the Diploma of Social Media Marketing, the first Australian Government recognised qualification in social media marketing, as well as a shorter online course called the Social Media Marketing Intensive.

The business’ partners include leading Universities, such as UTS, Southern Cross University and the University of South Australia, as well as leading vocational colleges such as Open Colleges. This month the business will pass its 1,000th enrolment across both courses, a major milestone and indicator for the growing demand for social media education.

The Optus My Business Awards, which covers 28 categories, acknowledges best practice within a particular industry sector, as well as individual business leaders, excellence in customer service and achievements in innovation, corporate social responsibility and workplace culture. Winners from all categories will be automatically shortlisted for the highly coveted Business of the Year Award.

Adam Zuchetti, editor of My Business, said Australian SMEs are at the leading edge of innovation and customer service excellence, as represented by this year’s Optus My Business Awards finalists.

My Business is extremely proud to showcase those female entrepreneurs that are thriving by pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo”, Mr Zuchetti said. “Determining this year’s finalists was no easy feat, with our selection panel working through an outstanding calibre of entries and the highest submission rate for the awards to date. On behalf of the My Business team, I would like to congratulate all of this year’s finalists and wish them the best of luck for the big night.

Speaking from her office in Surry Hills, Sydney, Daniele expressed her delight at being nominated in the Businesswoman of the Year category. “I’m so excited to be nominated for this award, not just to acknowledge the incredible achievements Social Media College has made, but also to inspire other female entrepreneurs to chase their dreams”.

Clearly humbled by the award nomination, Daniele believes it reflects the strength of the company’s brand, its commitment to seeing its student succeed and the changing face of marketing products online.

“By 2020 two out of three ad dollars will be spent online, and social media will be one of the biggest segments”, adding “those who learn to harness the power of social media can achieve incredible benefits for their business and career”.

The winners will be announced at a black tie awards dinner on Friday, 10 November at The Westin Sydney.
